Frequently asked questions about custom electronic boards
Electronic boards designed and manufactured specifically for a single product or product family, with functions, interfaces, form factor and firmware defined together with the customer. No repurposed generic modules: every board is designed for the real use case.
When off-the-shelf boards do not meet the requirements (interfaces, environment, certifications), when the recurring cost is high at the expected volumes, when you need to protect your product's IP, or when you have a critical dependency on an external supplier that you want to remove.
Yes. Unless otherwise agreed, the design of the custom board belongs to the customer: schematic, layout, BOM, firmware and documentation. You are free to have it produced elsewhere too (although it usually makes sense to stay with us for warranty and support).
Yes. We apply selective or full conformal coating with acrylic, polyurethane or silicone materials. It is a useful solution for boards intended for harsh environments with humidity, dust, vibration, salt spray or contaminants.
Yes, but it rarely pays off: in our typical cases a new design costs only slightly more and leaves you with a clean, optimised product that you own. We assess this together during the analysis stage.
